とんかつ まい泉 MAISEN

とんかつ まい泉 MAISEN

After the Fuji Rock Festival, Dylan and I had a couple of days to hang out in Tokyo again. Since were completely exhausted from camping, the rain, and hours of standing up and walking around we decided to slow things down in Tokyo. When you just want to chill in Tokyo, Aoyama is a good place to be.

Dylan and I headed over to Maisen, a tonkatsu house specializing in deep frying Kurobuta (Japanese Berkshire) tenderloins for the world to enjoy.

Kurobuta tenderloin fried to perfection.

Fatty, delicious, fried heaven.

Dylan opted for the katsu oyako-don, literally the child (egg) and mother (chicken katsu) donburi. It was one of the best we've ever had.

I hope we gave you enough reasons to go to Japan.

I LOVE Maisen. I consider myself really lucky that my parent's apartment is in the neighborhood, so it's just a walk away. Except last time I totally embarrassed myself to the waiter....so maybe I won't go back.

Maisen is SO amazing! I ate there three times last I was in Tokyo haha! Which level of pork did you get, and did you try anything outside of the tonkatsu? Maisen's oyako-don is also the best I've ever had :)

Moye...you are incredibly RUCKY! I love that neighborhood. What did you do to that waiter? haha. I want to know!

effingdericious...thanks for the rec! We got the highest grade ... the 3000yen one. Super rich. Dylan loved his oyako don!

gourmetpigs...boo to your cousin. I hope you get to go soon!

Jan...don't you hate when you find out about places after you've left? I guess it's meant to be. That just means you have to come back! Thanks for reading.

I want to try Maisen, too, but am having a hard time searching for the exact direction coming out from Exit A2 of Omotesando Station. And there seem to be no map with the street Jingumae on it. Can you please give me a clearer direction to Maisen from Exit A2? I will be with my 2 kids on this trip so any help is welcome! Thanks in advance:)
