Dessert Club Chikalicious

After stuffing our faces at Perilla, we headed over to Dessert Club ChikaLicious, it's ChikaLicious' casual take-out shop located across the street from the original Dessert Bar and it is now my favorite spot for late night sweets.

Chikalicious
Each day the Dessert Club ChikaLicious displays it's beautiful array of $1.60 cupcakes (Double Chocolate, Red Velvet, Coconut, Banana, Caramel, Mocha and Black & White) and $2.25 cupcakes (S'mores, Caramel Filled, and Triple Chocolate) for people to drool over. That night we ordered a Mocha and Red Velvet cupcake. I love the moistness in their cakes and lightly whipped frosting. The balance of frosting-to-cake ratio and sweetness made these cupcakes one of my all-time favorites.

I've never been a big fan of pudding, mostly because the only pudding I grew up with was that nasty instant powdered stuff from the market. Dessert Club ChikaLicious is known for their puddings, so Dylan and I took the chance and ordered several hoping that this pudding would differ from the Just Add Milk version that we grew up to hate.

Our first pudding, the Steamed vanilla custard pudding moist cake served in warm custard sauce with Tahitian vanilla beans was life changing. Dylan and I took turns scooping out warm spoonfuls of the most delightful concoction of warm, vanilla and moist cake.

Chikalicious
I'm a sucker for anything brioche. The Brioche pudding house made brioche baked in vanilla-brandy pudding differed from the previous pudding. The brioche pudding was served cold, but was just as awesome. It was a refreshing way to truly end our first night in NYC.

We managed to snatch a Vanilla apple pudding cake before the club closed. I ended up eating this cake early in the morning when I woke up with a grumbling tummy. MMM...breakfast in bed from ChikaLicious. Life is good.

Oooh, I passed by this place but was already too full for desserts (yes, a rare sight!)

Another fun place to try is the dessert truck! (Yes, like a taco truck... with desserts! WHERE IS THIS IN LA?!!!)

Looking forward to tasting the red velvet cupcake and puddings!

I'm getting excited with all of your NYC posts because we're headed there at the end of December.

Keep them coming!
