While Dylan was out on his photoshoot, I had an amazing date with Kayoko from Umami Mart. I don't know when or how we met over the blogsphere, but we have become extremely good food friends over the year. She even took half the day off to take me around. Who does that??? Seriously, only good friends...well...maybe stalkers. Err...I'm pretty sure she's not a stalker.

We met up early in the morning for breakfast at Magnolia Bakery. Magnolia Bakery serves breakfast??? No, but I'd like to think that cupcakes are great breakfast options.
We ended up getting a couple of their notorious red velvet cupcakes and banana pudding along with some coffee and took our breakfast to the park across the street. Although Magnolia cupcakes are the origins of the cupcake revolution, the cupcake itself is just ok. I'm not a big fan of the 1:1 ratio of frosting to cake and the cake itself was super dense.

Luckily, their banana pudding was amazing. I know it looks like a regurgitated cake from Cake Wrecks, but besides that, it was loaded with tons of banana-y goodness.

Cupcakes look like they were delicious!!
FUN TIMES!!!
The city's best red velvet is at Billy's Bakery. Magnolia's simple chocolate and vanilla cupcakes are BOMB. And I totally think that cupcakes make a fine fine breakfast ;-)
